More North Carolina computer usage

Still stuck in North Carolina, but I managed to creep into Duke and use a computer in their cafeteria area that someone left logged on. I didn't run well today but that'll be for a lengthier post on my other blog (My Sports one, check it out at Steve's Sports and Travel) but in the mean time I'll talk about a controversial issue (DRM) and how they're always working backwards in trying to fix it.
Remember how DRM was cracked back in December (blog post HERE) , well Corel, the makers of WinDVd, have released a patch that forces users to patch their software to their latest version or not be able to play any AACS (DRM'ed) Blu-Ray or HD-DVD. This was reported on Engadget but it's still such a rotten deal, forcing people to patch their software or not. This is the way of DRM, and they'll never win, however Corel loves to stick it to users. I think I'm with the majority in that DRM will never win, but that's just me, I'm no Hollywood studio.

Orb works now for Wii, PS3 and Xbox360

I love Engadget, since I can't get enough of gadgets, and today I've found out that a favorite program of mine, Orb, is now compatible with all the major next-gen consoles. For those who don't know what Orb is, it's a streaming application that allows you to stream or access pictures, music, videos from your home computer on your cell phone or another computer through a stream.
Now since it's been updated you can use Orb with the next gen consoles, that's right, your Wii, Xbox360 or PS3. Sure that may be trivial for most users but imagine just plugging in your xbox, and playing your videos at your friends house? Imagine the possibilities with that?

New old toy - Steve bought another PS2

Sorry for the missed day yesterday, it was a busy day in my personal life but I managed to pick up a couple of things I wanted, including a used slim Playstation 2 and the movie The Departed. That movie looks impressive with Matt Damon and co. I have to watch it tonight before I give it back to my friend, lol, since he gave me the money to buy it.
As for the PS2, I had been meaning to get one since I sold my old one this summer after receiving a couple PS2 games for Christmas and since I decided against getting a Playstation 3 anytime soon. There's no compelling reason to get one. Any game I want to play right now, FFXII, God Of War 2, etc are all on Playstation 2, and if I get a next-gen console, it'll be an Xbox360.
Nothing too interesting so far today in tech news, I've been stuck at work/track all day, which I'll talk about on my other blog, but I'll put something more interesting for you guys later.

1st Week of Class - WoW Burning Crusade Release

Yep it's the first week of class, and unfortunately I missed yesterday due to work / other commitments, and I had to see Telladega Nights, I heard lots about it but wasn't that impressed. It has some good one liners but it just wasn't a movie that stood out.
Anyways today's the release of the World of Warcraft expansion called The Burning Crusade, and the guys at Joystiq (a great gaming blog) have some great coverage of the launch. I've been meaning to give WoW a shot, but I'm trying to finish HL2 and play some console RPG's, so I'm going to have to split my time between those first.
Btw track is killing me, lol, I'm so tired, someone help me!

Next Gen DVD formats and players guide

Most people here have vaguely heard of Blu-Ray and HD-DVD but most people do not have a clue between the differences between the two. Mainly Blu-Ray has been championned by Sony, it's in the PS3, and it has a larger amount of media companies behind it and the discs can hold more data (50gb on a DUAL-Layer Disc) where the HD-DVD camp, lead by Hitachi, have the support of Microsoft and Intel among others, and is cheaper to make and has Xbox360 support as well.
Ok that's good but what about the stand alone players? Well this Next Gen DVD Recorders and Players Guide can help you with that, with info on theSamsung Blu-Ray Disc Player (I've watched movies on this at the Samsung Experience in NYC) and Sony's Blu-Ray players, which many predict to win the format war. Either way getting some nice HD quality movies in your home is definetly worth it so check it out.

Jack Black and Hellacious D Interview

I think Jack Black is a hilarious comedian, not a stand up comic kind of funny but and overall funny guy that makes you laugh by his demeanor and what he does all day. Well that guys at Maxim Online, yes that's right Maxim, have an online video with Jack Black and Tenacious D availible for you guys.
The interview is funny in the typical Jack Black way, and while your there you can view all the other nice features of Maxim, such as girls, games, entertainment, cheerleaders and all that other great stuff. Check it out!

Watch the New Spider-Man 3 Trailer

I don't know about you guys but I've seen both Spider-Man's (been a fan of Marvel Comics for years) and the movies have been pretty good as well. I saw the early trailer for this a while ago when I went to see Pirates of The Caribbean 2 but this trailer blows it away. You just have to Swing in to see the new, full Spider-man 3 trailer at VideoDetective.com. They have the largest collections of trailers on the net, and they have games and contests there as well so it wouldn't hurt to take a look now wouldn't it.
