Facebook and March Madness

It's nice when major social networks do something for a change. Facebook has been really good at organizing March Madness brackets for it's users. They have it setup so that pretty much anyone can create a pool, setup their own bracket, and this year they set it up so that everyone participating has a chance to win it all again Facebook's thousands of users. I'm rank 135,000 so far, but in my brackets I'm 3, 5th and 6th, so I'm not doing too bad at all.

Yep I'm using the computer in the lobby, it's so much faster than my EDGE connection when I want to load more than just webpages.

Alright more later,

Blog Review: Overtime

I know I'm reviewing a Sports blog (I mentioned it before on my sports blog) but I haven't done a Blog Review in a while and I'm looking to do a nice exchange for both parties, why not a little link love can't hurt right :)

Overtime is a blog from a fellow Montrealer by the name of Frank and as you can probably guess from the title, it's focused on sports. He has a great variety of sports topics, from boxing to hockey and random sports happenings. I like his use of colors and his writing is very professional and clear to understand, unlike mine where I merely write down quickly whatever flows out of my head.

I enjoy taking his view on sports pretty much daily, and I suggest you guys to read it as well. The URL for his blog is http://overtim.blogspot.com, notice the e, guess Overtime was taken, lol.

There's my review for the night, enjoy!

Internet or Super Bowl?

Since I'm going to talk about the Super Bowl on my other blog (Link Here) I figure I might as well talk about what people do when not watching the Super Bowl. I was flipping the channels during half-time, and all I could see was junk on the other channels, well I saw re-runs on MTV, figure skating on ESPN and I gave up and went upstairs for a bit. Were you guys on the internet? Did you guys watch the game at all? Post your stories.

Btw I thought the best commercial was the robot one by GM, simple yet effective. What was yours?

Anyone here love hockey? Check out these hockey forums

I know that 99% of the people from Montreal love the Canadiens, even if they've never played or watched hockey, unlike me, where I've followed the Canadiens for years and can talk about them to anyone at anytime. That's why I love reading all the posts at this NHL Forum from HFboards.com. They got tons of people since the board has been around for 5 years. They got individual forums for each team, seperated by conference of course, and other forums for international hockey, the NHL, minor leagues, hockey history, pretty much everything. It's prolly the best hockey forum around, and I'm not lying. If you're a hockey fan like me you'll love this forum.

Now hopefully my Canadians can bounce back from the 4-1 loss to Toronto on Saturday.

Enjoy!

Football Forums

Everyone knows that the Super Bowl is coming around and hopefully my Colts will pull out the victory and give Peyton Manning his first Super Bowl ring. With football there's a lot of issues, stories, discussion and other fun things to talk about. Heck I could probably start a blog just on football alone, but if you're looking to talk to a a large community of football fans then this football message board is the place to go. The board at Football Boards has been around for over 6 months, so it's got a decent sized community that's pretty great. It's the perfect place for all you football fanatics.

Check it out and lemme know what you guys think.

Hi-Tech Hockey Jerseys - New NHL Uniforms

Now this is what I like, the marriage of sports and technology into one, and it's with hockey to booth, one of my favorite sports. Yep the NHL and Reebok/CCM have partnered to redesign the shirts and the pants of the uniform. They call it the Rbk EDGE Uniform System, even if the name seems a little too sponsored, it's really an improvement for the players. They get lighter jerseys, especially when wet, and less bulk while maintaining the same Range of Motion, and they get more hip protection as well.

Here's a pic of the uniform

Pretty cool don't you think? Might have to hold off on that Sidney Crosby jersey purchase for a bit, lol.

More later,

The COLTS won! (so did Arsenal)

I'm taking another unscheduled break to report the results of the great football game between the Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots. The Patriots, with their man Tom Brady at the helm, could not pull another comeback victory with a minute left, and lost to the Cots 38-34.

Honestly it was one of the best football games I had ever seen, with a lot of lead changes, tough defense, great football and an entertaining match. I'm sure most of you guys were watching it, and I'm wondering what your reactions were? Happy that Tom Brady lost that aura of invincibility? or that the Patriots just got beat by a better team on that day? Discuss

Btw, for the non-American readers of my Blog, Arsenal managed to beat Manchester United during FA Premier League action today, 2-1 on 2 late goals by Robin Van Persie and Thierry Henry, it was beautiful. I couldn't watch the game because I was at work but it's amazing that even with all the misfortune that Arsenal can beat the Premiership leaders. Way to go guys!

More tech news tomorrow,

Quiet Saturday night? Why not play some poker?

Let's say its a Saturday night, and all you want to do is simply relax and play some poker with real people. Unfortunately you're friends are out or busy with their girlfriends/wifes and can't play with you. That's when you should turn to
PokerDIY - A free service to find LIVE poker games. Yep they offer a nice FREE service that allows you to search for live games around your area. You can even create mailing lists, inviting users/friends, make RSVP's, or manage a poker league and keep track of things. Great ressource for those poker fanatics. Also as another incentive they have the PokerDIY Freerool for members where you can win some real prize money and a place on their PokerDIY League Scoreboard. I think that's pretty awesome, too bad I'm too tired to look for any games tonight.

Remember PokerDIY when looking for a local game, the URL again is http://www.pokerDIY.com

Enjoy,

Hockey, Track, Basketball, Soccer and Football

Yea it hasn't been a very good weekend in terms of term for me, since I've had track on friday, went to see the LIU basketball game today, then went to Staten Island, NY to cover a hockey game for Athletic Training, then tomorrow I'm going to watch some soccer (GO ARSENAL) and some football (Saints and Colts are my favorites).

Nothing really new in terms of tech news that I've been fond of, just the usual product releases, etc. There is however a nice phone in Japan that takes after the Nintendo DS and has 2 internal screens with one being a touchscreen. Too bad the US may never see it.

Here's a link to the story on Engadget and nice picture of it.

Guitar Hero causing injuries?

I guess video games cause more and more pain these days, with even professional athletes receive injuries from them. Supposedly one of the pitches from the Detroit Tigers had injured his forearm while playing the game "Guitar Hero". Guitar Hero is a game like Dance Dance Revolution where you recreate songs on guitar by strumming and hitting certain keys. Well they play that for their World Series lost last year.

The player, Joel Zumaya, profile is on Yahoo Sports, stating this, but we'll see if its really true or not. So watch out kids, grown ups or finely tuned athletes, since Video games can get you, lol.

Long day - Homework and Kenyan's

It's so tough getting up at 6:30am for a track meet on a Sunday. Yep I had to do it today since I had a race there and my teammates had to be there at 8:30 so we left around 7:30. However it was not all for something as I came 2nd to a legit Kenyan, yes one of those crazy runners from Africa, in the 1000m. He wasn't probably in the best of shape since he ran at NCAA Cross-Country Nationals 2 weeks earlier but it felt good to go toe to toe with him. He barely dipped me at the line, and I ran a pretty good time, 2:36 for the 1000m this early in the season isn't bad. I wish I could get that picture at the line, lol.

I'm going to have more stuff for you guys since i'll be up a while writing papers and procrastinating, so don't worry content is coming!

Great Nutrition and Supplement Site

If you guys don't know I've been taking Vitamins and Supplements for my hip. I had surgery 2 years ago in December and hip pain for a year before, however I'm still running and my vitamins are a main reason why. I've looked at a couple of sites online but nothing compares to N101. N101 Nutrition has a huge selection of nutritional supplements, vitamins, herbs and natural beauty products. It's got solid low prices and for those who like to shop in buck they got some volume discounts and free shipping on many items. It's a great one-stop website for everything from skin care to sports nutrition, so if you need some vitamins or supplements like me to perform then you should check them out at N101 Nutrition.

Thanks,

-Steve

Another option when shipping for vitamins

Since you all know I run track and light weights as part of my routine most of you guys wouldn't be suprised I take some vitamins to supplement my diet. I don't touch the weight lifting supplements since I'm still an NCAA athlete and a lot of those are banned. However for me I need my supplements in order to keep myself healthy from the great choices I have at the LIU caf and since I've had hip surgery a Joint supplement (Chondritin, Glucosamine and MSM) was recommended to me as well. Anyone involved in sports and lifting should check out the Vitamins and supplements available at CheapVitamins.com, it's an easy way to get what you need, and the prices are great. I've visited CheapVitamins.com and found their selection to be pretty good and helpful for me. Check them out if you need that extra help with your diet or that push when you lift.

Thanks,

-Steve

Pinks - Drag Racing Fanatics on SpeedTV

This post is sponsored by speedtv.com

If you live in a decent urban center, like Montreal, then you've most likely had friends who've dragged raced or soupped*-up their cars. My friends only had Honda Civics and Acura Integras but then we were only 18-19, lol, so racing wasn't the greatest. Well speedtv has a show called Pinks where they show you some of the best Drag Racing Clips. It's on that all-day marathon I wrote on my muscle, the Muscle Car Marathon of Pinks on November 23rd and it's going to be followed by the introduction of Pinks All Out. If you've seen a drag race and love it you should check it out. Here's a little video to spice up your appetite.

Enjoy!

My opinions on the Ab Lounge 2

Normally I don't talk about fitness equipment since I keep this blog tech focused but I work as Athletic Trainer and am an athlete so I know about working out so whenever I see an ab product on TV I usually cringe. I saw the ab lounge on TV earlier and I was like, c'mon, a chair that does pretty much situps for you. I don't know about it, sure it make motivate some people to do some Abs, but you're much better off getting an ab workout and doing various exercises. Maybe it's a great value for someone who doesn't want to do all that but it's not the best way to get abs. Sure it may get you some, but you don't have to spend $99 for it. I guess to each his own.

Alright there's my 2 cents.

Thanks,

-Steven

Speaking of Vitamins

Since I've taken vitamins and supplements for a couple of years I might as well share a new Nutritional Site with you guys. Ever since I've been at LIU my diet hasn't been the same due to the quality of the cafeteria's selections so I've taken a multi-vitamin. I also take a supplement that contains Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSM for my hip. I had hip surgery nearly 2 years ago due to my genetics and that fact that I run 50-60 miles a week from being a distance runner so it was recommended by my doctor. It's tough doings sports, I know I know, lol. I've never ordered supplements online but after coming across this site I might do so in the future.

I came across N101 Nutrition, a new site in the nutritional supplement world. Browsing their selection of products, they contain a pretty decent selection, including the 2 supplements I take above, which is key since my Hip needs all three ingredients. They also display the Nutritional Label directly from the bottle, this is another plus. Most sites don't do that and you know exactly what you're getting from the Supplement Facts sheet you see on every supplement as mandated by the FDA. N101 also has a rewards program for all its customers, and it prides itself on customer service. I'm going to give them a look whenever I run out of my supplements, especially at the prices these guys have. Check them out at http://www.n101.com".
