How a jet engine works
Wednesday, October 04, 2006
Was just reading up on a cool topic at the library to kill some time. I was going through the Education section of Rolls Royce for those of you who don't know they make airplane engines as well. I never knew a gas turbine jet engine uses the same principles as a filled air ballon to push itself, it's pretty cool when reproduced on a large scale with a turbine pushing the jet at like a thousand miles per hour. They have an interactive tool on the Rolls Royce website that teaches you the parts of the jet engine, and some videos as well. I think it's a pretty cool site to check out if you like learning things, or if you're bored and interested. I didn't have the greatest knowledge of the parts of the engine but I know physics pretty well so it was fun to learn more about it. Check out gas turbine at the Rolls Royce site.
