Fight the power! New York Teen sues the RIAA!

Keeping with the music news (well Zunes play music) I read a story earlier before I left for practice and came back to see it being the most popular story on it. It's about a Kid in New York suing the RIAA. I don't link to the comments or digg article since I like having the source but the discussion on Digg brings a lot of good points.

For instance, many of the times that the RIAA has met any opposition in courts, they've either backed off or offered to settle. As well they pick on small, inidvidiuals or families, they never pick on rich people, businesses or corporations. They also have little evidence, can't prove you're sharing if you're on a Wireless network, etc. Very nice comments (which is impressive for Digg).

I'll let you guys read, but as usual, post your thoughts and comments.

16 years later, still no Super Mario Brothers 3 help and CONTEST

Just saw this on Digg, even if it's a stupid post it's pretty funny. Some guy posted for help on Super Mario Brothers 3 16 years ago on usenet and still got no replies. Read it HERE for a quick chuckle, there's a reason why there's no replies for 16 years. If you guys can tell me why someone will win $1 sent via Paypal to them or to the person of their choice.

(Hint : Read Digg)

Enjoy

New Digg Homepage, Updates Galore!

I was relaxing on my comp waiting for IE7.0 to finish installing on my parents computer and I went to my usual place for news Digg.com. It said "We're updating" so I was sitting there wow this better be good and low and behold it is. Digg did a pretty massive update, with support for Widescreen monitors (yey!), better layout organization, and a whole bunch of other stuff. I'm way too lazy to write it out by hand since I watched the video by Kevin Rose but here's the copy/paste from the Digg Blog (Blog.Digg.Com)

Interface Design, Digg Goes Widescreen
We’ve gone from a fixed width layout to a flexible one allowing you to make use of your screen real-estate on larger monitors. Navigation has also been moved to the top allowing you to quickly switch between sections.

Top 10 Stories/Videos
Digg stories move fast, so we’ve created a quick view of the top 10 hottest on Digg, updated in real time. This list changes as other stories accelerate in Diggs - so make sure to check it often. Think of this as your quick pulse of what’s hot in any given section.

Videos Enhancements
Aside from giving Videos their own position in the top navigation, we have added a couple cool features: Top 10 hottest videos, and on-Digg video previews. Simply click any video with a play icon to get lightbox window in which you can preview and Digg the video.

Podcasting
Now you can Digg your favorite podcast series and individual podcast episodes. Not only can you see a list of the most popular podcasts by section, you can also dive into any individual podcasts to see the most Dugg individual episodes. And don’t forget - every time you Digg a podcast or podcast episode that is bookmarked in your profile and shared with your friends.

Profile Enhancements
Now quickly jump between your Dugg News, Videos, or Podcasts. With three separate sections we make it easy to sort through your own Diggs or the Diggs from your friends using the friends tab.

Pretty sweet news for people like me who love digg, check it out!

Sell your PS3 to Taco Bell for $12,500 worth of Taco's

Found this pretty interesting on Digg so I might as well share it. There's a story on 2old2play.com where Taco Bell is having a promotion/fundraiser to the first person that sells them their PS3 will get $12,500 worth of Taco Bell credit. That's a LOT of tacos my friends, lol. The PS3 they will have one will go to the Boys and Girls club of America, so it's for a good cause and it's always nice to see. Pretty interesting propesition if you have a PS3 and love taco bell, lol.

Check out the full article HERE and post your thoughts, Tacos or PS3? lol

Are you a fanboy?

Just looking through digg and I see how divided each camp is along fanboy lines. Things like Apple, Linux get dugg pretty quickly and anything anti-Microsoft usually gets the same treatment. I saw that digg implemented a new algorythm so that an article needs more diggs to reach the frontpage but I wonder if it'll stop the fanboys. Me, I love AMD and ATi, but I don't consider myself a true fanboy since I buy the best product out there. I have an nVidia video card and just bought another one for my parents. Are you a fanboy? What are you are fanboy of? Let's hear your thoughts.

My rant on Digg and random things

I'm all for Digg, it's got great user generated content via it's voting system and I love it. However lately I've been finding a lot of crappier stories, such as the guy who thinks his MacBook Pro is cheaper than a Dell or an HD, in Australia. He doesn't mention this until you read the blog and find that out and since he applies all the educational discounts Apple has. Maybe he should've looked for a coupon code or a dell for the Dell, I've never onced paid retail for a Dell product.

Anyways I didn't have class tonight so I had the chance to go to the library of my own free will and finish my homework. It takes everything for me to get away from a computer these days. I really think I'm addicted. I also need to get better on taking my pills, I have them in my wallet and I keep forgetting to take them. Oh well.

Lastly I don't think I'll be able to have a nice Labels section on my sidebar, since I still have all the old blogger code. I might have to change my layout, but I'll wait a bit until Blogger's new interface comes out of Beta or until I find a new theme that works well with the Beta, since I like this one. Alright enough for now, time to relax.
